Special Events: National Night Out
Thousands attended the Des Plaines Police Department’s 7th Annual
National Night Out, held Tuesday evening, August 7, 2007, at West
Park, 651 S. Wolf Road. National Night Out, held in conjunction with
the Neighborhood Watch Program, was created to instill a sense of
neighborhood camaraderie and strengthen the partnership bond between
the community and the Police Department. In addition to lots of free
food, attendees enjoyed free giveaways, entertainment, a bounce
house, an obstacle course, a climbing wall, an inflatable bungee
run, face painting, a visit by Nine FM (99.9 FM) Radio,
demonstrations, clowns, emergency vehicles to explore and more!
According to Des Plaines Police Chief Jim Prandini, "National Night
Out is all about reaching out to the community. It’s our seventh
year of doing this for the community, and I think it’s a great way
for us to thank all the people who support the Des Plaines Police
Department and our Neighborhood Watch Program." (pictured above)
Always an attraction, the Des Plaines Police Canine Officer Mike
Mellenthin and his canine Bravo perform a demonstration at this
year’s Des Plaines Police Department’s National Night Out.
