The mission of the City

 The City of Des Plaines
is located approximately seventeen miles from the Chicago Loop
and five miles from O'Hare International Airport. Residents and
businesses have direct access to Metra commuter trains, the Pace
Suburban Bus System, the CTA subway system and Interstates 90, 94
and 294. Spanning over 15.85 square miles, representing 10,150
acres, with a population of 58,710, the City
is one of the largest northwest suburbs in Cook County, Illinois.

Lee/Graceland Ave Railroad
Crossing Closed

Metra Platform Work
The Des Plaines Engineering Department has received
notification from Metra and the Union Pacific Railroad that Lee
Street and Graceland Avenue will be closed to automobile traffic
for a period of two weeks from Monday, July 21, 2008 to Sunday,
August 3, 2008.

Five Corners Redevelopment Plan
On May 15, 2008 the City of Des Plaines held a community meeting
regarding redevelopment of the Golf Road portion of the Five
Corners TIF District. Consultants gave a presentation on the
possible redevelopment scenarios. Meeting participants then
discussed the scenarios in small groups.
The
Power Point presentation, along with participant’s comments is
