The City of Des Plaines is
located approximately seventeen miles from the Chicago Loop
and is adjacent to O'Hare International Airport. Residents and
businesses have direct access to Metra commuter trains, the Pace
Suburban Bus System, the CTA subway system and Interstates 90,
94 and 294. Spanning over 15.85 square miles, representing
10,150 acres, with a population of 58,710,
the City is one of the largest northwest suburbs in Cook County,
Illinois.


July 4th Celebration
Independence Day promises to be an event to remember in Des
Plaines as plans materialize for the parade, ice cream social,
and fireworks- events scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2009 and
united by the theme, "America’s Famous Firsts."

July 4 Refuse Collection Schedule
Des Plaines residents are reminded that Des Plaines City Hall,
1420 Miner Street, will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2009 in
observation of Independence Day. Residential garbage and
recycling collection, however, will NOT be interrupted. Those
residents who have Friday refuse collection will still have
service on Friday, July 3, 2009.
