Des Plaines is set to become a leading location for logistics and air cargo companies due to its proximity to O’Hare International Airport. Numerous companies have located in Des Plaines to capitalize on the excellent location. Des Plaines also offers businesses easy access to Interstates 294 and 90, which makes getting to Milwaukee or Chicago an easy trip. New businesses to Des Plaines include Coasters, Nippon Express, BAX Global, and Columbus Foods.

Everleigh Condominiums RenderingDowntown Des Plaines is highlighted by the new Metropolitan Square development. This project is anchored by over 100,000 square feet of retail space, including a new 40,000 square foot Shop & Save grocery store, 22,000 square feet of office space, and over 140 condominium and loft units situated on automobile/ pedestrian lanes and walkways in a lifestyle center setting. Metropolitan Square is conveniently located within walking distance of the Des Plaines Metra stop.

Des Plaines has a growing residential market as well. In addition to Metropolitan Square’s over 140 units, the 144-unit, $43 million Everleigh Condominiums project broke ground next to Metropolitan Square. There are plans for an additional 450 new townhomes and condominium units by Lexington Homes, Remington Homes, and Lennar. These projects are all under development in 2008.
