MINUTES OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING
OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DES PLAINES, ILLINOIS
HELD IN THE LAW LIBRARY, SIXTH FLOOR,
DES PLAINES CIVIC CENTER,
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2007

CALL TO ORDER: The Committee of the Whole meeting of the City Council of the City of Des Plaines, Illinois, was called to order by Mayor Anthony W. Arredia at 9:04 a.m. in the Law Library, Sixth Floor, Des Plaines Civic Center on Wednesday, September 19, 2007.

ROLL CALL: Roll call indicated the following aldermen present: Moylan, Murphy, Higgason and Smith. Aldermen Beauvais, Brookman, Walsten and Argus were absent. Alderman Brookman arrived at 9:12 a.m.

Also present was Gregory F. Ford, Vice President, The PAR Group, 100 N. Waukegan Road, Suite 211, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.

FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION - Alderman Smith, Chair

 

DISCUSSION/GUIDELINES FOR RECRUIT. OF CITY MANAGER:

Alderman Smith introduced, Gregory F. Ford, The PAR Group representative, who was retained to conduct an executive search for the position of City Manager on August 20, 2007 - Resolution R-113-07, at a cost not-to-exceed $22,000.

Mr. Ford reviewed the A Recruitment Profile Discussion Outline@ previously provided to the aldermen for their input. Mr. Ford stated that with the aldermen= s input, The PAR Group will develop a draft Recruitment Profile that will include a community background, i.e. parks, downtown development, type of government, challenges and opportunities, and the candidate qualification criteria; once the Profile has been completed and approved, The PAR Group will go to their data base and send out letters.

 

Alderman Brookman entered the meeting at 9:12 a.m.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION:

Moved by Brookman, seconded by Murphy, to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel. Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 5-Moylan, Murphy, Higgason, Brookman, Smith

NAYS: 0-None

ABSENT: 3-Beauvais, Walsten, Argus

Motion declared carried.

The Committee of the Whole recessed at 9:22 a.m.

The Committee of the Whole reconvened at 10:26 a.m.

Roll call indicated the following aldermen as present: Moylan, Murphy, Higgason, Brookman, Smith.

 

ADJOURNMENT:

Moved by Brookman, seconded by Murphy, that the Committee of the Whole meeting of the City Council adjourn. Motion declared carried. Meeting adjourned at 10:27 a.m.
