
2007 Press Release: Operation Prom Night Program

May 4, 2007
Maine West High School juniors and seniors took part in the
Operation Prom Night Program, Thursday, May 3, 2007. In light of the
upcoming proms, members of the City of Des Plaines Emergency
Services, cooperatively with the High School, presented the program,
which involves a simulated fatal automobile accident involving an
intoxicated driver. This year’s program took place on the football
field at Maine West, followed by presentations in the auditorium.
Several featured speakers addressed the students on making the right
decisions including Des Plaines Fire Chief John Heavey; Dr. William
Grice, Pastor of the Congregational Church; Marti Belluschi, who
relayed her personal experiences as a victim of a drunk driver; Des
Plaines Police Officer Tara Goble; and Vice President of Maine West
High School Dave Berendt. This marks the 9th Prom Night in 17 years.
