
2007 Press Release: Fire Department Honors Chief Retirement and
Swearing In
For immediate release
September 4, 2007
On Tuesday, September 4, 2007, 24-year Fire
Department Veteran Randy Jaeger was administered the oath of Office
of Fire Chief by City Clerk Donna McAllister. Randy succeeds Chief
John Heavey who retired on September 3, 2007. During his career
Randy served the Department as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant,
Captain, Battalion Chief and Deputy Chief. (pictured left to right)

Retiring Des Plaines Fire Chief John Heavey cuts one of two cakes
made in honor of his retirement at a Cake and Coffee Reception held
at Fire Station #1 last Friday. The first cake featured a picture
John Heavey early in his Fire Department career and the second
featured a current picture of the outgoing chief. Heavey began his
career with the Department in 1974. A party for the outgoing Chief
will be held 4:00 - 10:00 pm, Sunday, October 14, 2007 at Casa
