2007 Press Release: Fire Department Launches 4th Ambulance
For immediate release
October 12, 2007
The Des Plaines Fire Department will expand
its emergency medical response services with the deployment of our
fourth Paramedic Ambulance on October 15, 2007. On June 4, 2007 the
City of Des Plaines hired twelve probationary
Firefighter/Paramedics, six of whom were part of the 2007 budget
approval for the implementation of a fourth ambulance.
According to Acting Fire Chief Art Zern, "The twelve probationary
Firefighter/Paramedics are completing their initial training and
will be ready to perform their duties with the professionalism and
expertise that the citizens of Des Plaines expect. The fourth
ambulance will start handling calls on Monday, October 15, 2007.
This initiative will help to lower response times and allow for the
quick and efficient delivery of emergency medical services to the
citizens, visitors and workforce in Des Plaines."
The MEDTEC ambulance, which cost $132,000, was purchased from
Foster Coach Sales.
