2008 Press Release: Clinical Government Program Underway
For immediate release
June 17, 2008
The City of Des Plaines and local High School District 207
Clinical Government Program exposes Des Plaines Maine West High
School students to the workings of local government through guest
speakers, as well as hands on work and orientations in various City
Departments, other taxing bodies and other local agencies. The
program lasts three weeks and kicked off June 10, 2008.


Students fulfill a ½ credit government course
requirement by taking the course. The course concludes June 26, 2008
with a 9:00 am live press conference televised on local Cable
Channel 17.

Des Plaines City Manager Jason Bajor speaks to
Maine West Social Science Instructor Owen Doak prior to addressing
the students as part of the Clinical Government Program.

(above) Mayor Tony Arredia and City Clerk Donna
McAllister (above right) addressed the students on Monday, June 16,
2008, regarding agenda items that would be discussed at the City
Council Meeting later that evening.
