2008 Press Release: Volunteers Sought At Des Plaines Food Pantry

The Self-Help Closet & Pantry of Des Plaines is seeking
volunteers for specific tasks. The pantry is located at 600 E.
Algonquin Rd., on the northeast corner of the Wolf Road
intersection. Mature individuals who can lift/carry heavy boxes and
bags of food are needed to work at the pantry, and drivers with vans
are needed to pick up food donations around town. Volunteers must be
at least 18 or be supervised by a parent. Pantry hours for clients
are 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm on Tuesdays and 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on
Saturdays. For further information contact Shirley Eilken at
847-375-1443. The Self-Help Closet & Pantry, established in 1971,
serves approximately 800 Des Plaines residents each month.
