
2008 Press Release: Flood Information

8:45 am, Friday, April 11, 2008
According to the National Weather Service’s Report of 8:45 AM,
Friday, April 11, 2008, the Des Plaines River near Des Plaines is
currently at 5.4 feet and is projected to crest at 5.7 feet Saturday
morning, April 12, 2008. (It should be noted that flooding in the
Big Bend Drive area is generally reported at 8.0 feet.)
Des Plaines residents are advised to check Cable Channel #17, the
City’s website or to call the Des Plaines Emergency Management
Agency (EMA) at 847-391-5396 for updates as they become available.
Additional weather information is available from the
National
Weather Service.
Residents may report local drainage problems to the Public Works
Department at 847-391-5464 (available 24 hours). All emergencies
should be reported to 9-1-1.
The City of Des Plaines Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will
continue to monitor Des Plaines River levels and will issue
additional information and instruction as needed.

Tuesday, April 1, 2008, the Des Plaines River near Des Plaines is
currently at 5.15 feet and is projected to crest at 6.2 feet
Wednesday afternoon, April 2, 2008. (It should be noted that
flooding in the Big Bend Drive area is generally reported at 8.0
feet.)
Des Plaines residents are advised to check Cable Channel #17, the
City’s website or to call the Des Plaines Emergency Management
Agency (EMA) at 847-391-5396 for updates as they become available.

According to the National Weather Service’s Report of 4:00 pm,
Monday, March 31, 2008, the Des Plaines River near Des Plaines is
expected to rise above flood stage by this evening and continue to
rise to nearly 7.1 feet by Wednesday morning. (It should be noted
that flooding in the Big Bend Drive area is generally reported at
8.0 feet.)
Des Plaines residents are advised to check Cable Channel #17, the
City’s website or to call the Des Plaines Emergency Management
Agency (EMA) at 847-391-5396 for updates as they become available.
