Permits are required for a number of different projects in order to assure that these projects meet applicable Building Codes. The City of Des Plaines has adopted Building Codes in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of our residents. Following is a list of projects that require a City of Des Plaines Building Permit. This list is not all-inclusive: All permits may be applied for at the City of Des Plaines Building Department at 1420 Miner St., Room 301. Most projects costing over $15,000 will require stamped architectural plans. All permit applications require a current Plat of Survey. Licensed, bonded and insured contractors are required for many types of permits.
