Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is a federally
funded program of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD). Established in 1974, CDBG is an important tool
for helping local governments tackle serious challenges facing their
communities.
The City of Des Plaines Community and Economic Development
Department administers the program and works closely with HUD to
ensure fluid implementation. All program activities aim to benefit
low and moderate-income persons, prevent or eliminate blight, and
meet a need having a particular urgency.
