Miscellaneous Concrete Work
PATIOS, PAVER BRICKS, SIDEWALKS, SLAB ON GRADE
- A permit application must be completed and brought in with two
(2) copies of a current Plat of Survey, locating all permanent
structures and accessory buildings and locations with dimensions
of concrete walks or patios to be installed or replaced.
- Patios may not extend beyond 15’ from residence.
- All concrete/patios must be a minimum of 4" below top of
building foundation and pitch away from building at ¼" per foot.
Drainage cannot be directed onto neighboring properties.
- Patios must be 5’ 0" from property line, not including service
walk access. A patio must be located behind the house.
- A 24-hour minimum notice is required for pre-pour inspection
prior to pouring concrete or for a base inspection prior to laying
paver bricks.
- Wire mesh is not allowed on any City property concrete
replacement, such as sidewalks or aprons, except in those areas
that span utility trenches (see special instructions).
- Minimum thickness for concrete patio shall be 4" over 4" of
CA-6 compactable gravel (NO PEA GRAVEL). 6 bag mix concrete is the
minimum required concrete mix.
- Concrete stairs with two or more risers must have
handrails/guardrails.

Be advised that the above-mentioned are guidelines. Each permit
is treated individually and certain other requirements may apply.
Once the above-mentioned information is submitted, the correct
determination can be made.
Any exceptions to the above may require a variation.
Brick-pavers are only allowed in City right-of-way with a License
Agreement. An application for a License Agreement can be obtained
from the Planning and Zoning Division. The License Agreement must be
approved by City Council.
