Utility Billing and Payment Options
Des Plaines provides water service and contracts for refuse
collection to residents. The City's Finance Department accepts a
number of payment options including: cash, check, Visa, MasterCard,
Discover, ATM, ACH debit, E-Check and E-Pay.
Payment by using a credit card can be made either in person or by
phone at 391-5330 during normal business hours, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
When paying by phone, each customer is charged an additional $5
administrative fee.
Payment via E-Pay is a one-time payment made online though Visa,
MasterCard, or Discover. Click here to pay
bills online.
Payment via ACH debit is made by automatically deducted the money
from the customer's checking or savings account on the bill's due
date. You can download a sign-up application from the Forms and
Permits page of the website and return it to the Finance Department
at City Hall.
Utility bills are rendered by the Finance Department on a
bi-monthly basis. The due date is clearly marked on each bill and is
the 5th day of the month after the bill is received. If a customer
is unable to pay by the date noted on the bill and wishes to enter
payment arrangements, call a utility billing clerk at 847-391-5322.
Payment arrangements are done on a case-by-case basis. Failure to
pay a bill will result in late fees and eventual disconnection in
service.
