Engineering Department Program Objectives

2010 CIP ProjectsThe capital improvements proposed for construction in 2010 are identified in the 5-Year Capital Improvement Program at a cost of $5.4 million. Sources of revenue for the C.I.P. presently include the Capital Projects Fund, Motor Fuel Tax Fund ($800,000), Water Fund ($500,000), Sanitary Sewer Fund ($500,000), Tax Increment Finance Districts #1 and #6 ($650,000), federal and state grants ($2.1 million) and CDBG Fund ($286,000).

The following types of projects and their approximate funding levels will be recommended to the City Council during C.I.P. discussions for improvements in 2010: Street Resurfacing ($43,601), Street Rehabilitation ($202,972), Traffic Improvements ($400,000), Sewer/Drainage System Improvements ($1.6 million), Water System Improvements ($666,175), Sidewalk Improvements ($1,902,181), and Curb and Gutter Replacement ($150,000), Engineering Services ($225,000), Alley Reconstruction ($232,209) and Lighting Improvements ($1,000,000).

An alley reconstruction project consists of removing existing pavement and constructing porous concrete pavement.

A street rehabilitation project includes replacement of driveway aprons, trip hazardous sidewalk, and curbs with drainage problems, as well as resurfacing the roadway.

A street resurface project consists of replacing only the surface layer of the asphalt pavement.

The storm sewer project is part of the City's Storm Water Master Plan.
