Security Survey

Is your home safe? Get a Security Survey!

The security survey is a tool by which Des Plaines Police Officers can inform a resident if their home or business is susceptible to a burglary together with steps that can be taken to reduce and minimize that potential.

A security survey consists of an on-site examination of the physical structure.  It is a service provided free of charge to Des Plaines residents and businesses by the Des Plaines Police Department.  Recommendations will be made that if followed, will make a building a hardened target against burglary.  These recommendations are based on current crime patterns and current accepted crime prevention techniques.

The Des Plaines Police Department wants you to know that it is impossible to keep a burglar out that is intent on breaking into your home or business.  Fortunately, most burglars will not take the time or put forth the effort required to enter a secure home or business when others can be found that are not as secure.  They will move on to another target in most cases.

It is important that residents learn about and implement security measures to reduce burglary opportunities.  A concerted effort on the part of citizens combined with the services of the Des Plaines Police Department makes a practical team that can prevent crime.

Don't wait to become a victim, contact the Crime Prevention Office of the Des Plaines Police Department today at 847-391-5408.
